The Pipettes - Stop The Music

With their apple-crunch vocals, The Pipettes' new single Stop The Music captures all the magical escapism I could ever dream of in a chorus. I was always put off by their image and approach, which to me always seemed pretentiously kitsch as if they were slightly embarassed even themselves. Nevermind then, here the heavenwards final 30 seconds or so suddenly renders their pastiche futuristic. In lieu of a definative persona, the pop treacle filters romantic dreams and modern love. The melodic pinnacle of the-very-Kylie-Light-Years bit at the fade-out continues even after it has finished - the sound of cold air and sunlight.
